Personalizing your Table

Fall is my favorite season…. The crisp air, the amazing colors that fill our landscape, and let’s not forget all the tailgating, and autumn comfort foods that come along with this time of year. This IS the time of the year that most of us take time to entertain more, not just because of Thanksgiving and Christmas but, typically we go inside and just plain gather more.thanksgivingtable5-667x1000

So when you are entertaining, why not make your table beautiful? Nothing makes a guest feel more welcome than a home cooked meal and some personalization at the table.

A well-set table doesn’t have to be fancy nor does it have to cost a lot of money to look cohesive and beautiful. Sometimes, a little bit of greenery from your garden added to a small vase, or a simple apple used as a place card holder can completely transform a table-scape.

Recently, I used old, empty bourbon bottles as a centerpiece to a antique, wooden chicken feeder I found at a Vintage Fair for $12, and incorporated candles, pinecones, pumpkins and apples to create a fun and festive focal point.

Taking the time to personalize your table by incorporating place cards is a great way to make your guests feel welcome and impart the love you’ve put into preparing the meal. The good news is that personalized place cards – while they may look like they took loads of time to prepare – only take a few minutes to make, and go a long way with guests.  My kids love doing this even when it’s just us :).

My hope is that these few ideas inspire you… Happy table-scaping!
